How to Speed up the launch time of NMM if its behaving laggy, dont think its translatable to OBMM or FOMM or WyreBash

If its taking the program more than 10 or 20 seconds to load, its probably that you have alotof large mods in the NMM archive folder. I stumbled on a way to speed it up. You can replace the larger archives with empty clones. so on startup, it sees the clone and assumes its the original. The logic is that it normally goes thru a process of loading archive files into a sortof temporary memory (im not sure the correct explanation) relative to the sum of their size on disk, for example ive had over 10GB in archives and its taken upto 2 minutes to start, and considering NMMs also a download manager, means it takes however long before it can even start to download mods, so can be pretty frustrating

Note: This' best done to large mods youve allready installed, or ones you dont plan to install straight away; the empty clones dont allow you to uninstall those mods and need to be replaced again with the originals to uninstall their contents from the Data folder. This is also a good trick to use if your cloning the game folder and archives are stored there

First make sure NMMs closed

make a note of all the archives larger than say 200MB your comfortable removing

make a desktop folder, name it something "NMM Clone archives"

create two subfolders, one called Clones, the other Originals

In the Clones folder create as many subfolders as archives to replace

in the NMM archive folder hightlight the first archive, click again and press Ctrl+C

in the Clones folder highlight and click a subfolder and press Ctrl+V (do it to ensure exact spelling and spacing)

deselect and right click it, then archive it using the same format the original has (zip rar 7z etc)

when all the large archives are cloned like this, you can delete the clone folders they were made from

then in the NMM archive folder highlight all the orignals that were cloned (hold down Shift) and cut/paste/move them to "NMM Clone archives/Originals" folder

and move the empty clones to the NMM archive folder

start up NMM again and check its working. If so youll notice it loaded up alot quicker
