Keeping your account safe
Firstly, here are some general tips:
- Make sure to use a password that's not easy to guess.
Examples of bad passwords: your real name, the name of a relative/spouse/pet, your birthday or that of a relative or spouse.
- Do not give your password out.
- Do not drop the piece of paper with your passwords written on it ;) (cake for anyone who gets the reference)
- Do not use the same password for multiple sites (Use KeePass if necessary)
If you are using a public computer (e.g. library, school, work or internet cafe) or a shared one at home, make sure the "remember me" box is unchecked. If your browser asks to remember the password, and you are on a shared or public computer, say "no".
Always sign out when you leave a shared or public computer--this is also good if you're at home and have your own PC, but have curious children in the house.
If you are using your own PC, and are concerned about a child in the vicinity getting on the computer and using your account to get you banned, lock the computer when you leave it. This is done by pressing the window button and L on your keyboard. You should preferably password-protect your computer as well, to make locking it effective against people who might snoop or play with it while you're not looking.
