He even told me if he had an hour or two, he would spend 30 minutes working on forums and 30 minutes working on other kinds of outreach. The reason why he values forum link building so much is that it works. Link building has long been one of those Internet marketing tactics that make newer marketers feel like their heads are about to explode. Why do I need to worry about links? you might ask. Google likes my content, right? Well, yes and no. Yes, Google does want your content—but it also wants links pointing back to your site from other sites in order to confirm that your site is a legitimate resource and an authority on its topic (i.e., relevant). This way, when someone searches for information related to your niche or industry, Google can point them toward your site because it knows you have what they’re looking for. How can you do this on your own blog
This is a good question, and one you don’t want to answer wrong if you plan on using forums as part of your link building strategy. If you take a quick Google search, it’s pretty easy to find dozens of articles on how to build links using forums. However, these articles are from years ago when forum spamming was an accepted practice. As such, it may be important to consider their long-term value for your brand. Even though they still might provide short-term benefits, there’s no denying that forum linking is not as effective today as it once was. In fact, some inbound marketers argue that forum linking can actually hurt your site’s ranking by increasing its perceived spam factor. For example, according to Search Engine Journal: Google doesn't like unnatural links that pass PageRank. A lot of people used to get away with [forum spam] because it wasn't being targeted specifically at Google. But now that Google has gotten better at detecting those types of links, they're going after them. So what does all of this mean? It means you should use caution when employing forum linking strategies for SEO purposes. While it could help boost traffic in the short term, you may end up hurting your site’s ranking over time. And ultimately, that could lead to more problems than you bargained for—like lower rankings and fewer conversions down the road.
Why would someone do this for me?
It’s no secret that forum link building is one of my least favorite techniques when it comes to search engine optimization. I get it, though: you want to rank on Google, and what better way than by collecting as many relevant links as possible? However, every single time I’ve tried to do forum link building, it has not worked—at all. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that forum link building will actually hurt your rankings rather than help them. So why would someone do it? Why would someone spend hours upon hours trying to collect relevant forum links if they know it won’t work? Well, there are a few reasons... but none of them good. That’s right; even though I don’t think forum link building works, people still use it! Some people just can’t be swayed. They have their minds set on using forum link building to boost their rankings in Google, but they also need an expert opinion (i.e., mine) before making any decisions. And that’s where you come in. Top 5 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Do Forum Link Building for SEO The entire point of SEO is to create high-quality content that answers questions people already have . . . NOT questions other websites already answered on forums! Most posts from forums are poorly written, full of grammatical errors, and barely answer any questions at all.
What amount of time does it require to begin getting results?
While I can’t really predict when you’ll see results from forum link building, it definitely won’t happen overnight. It takes time to build up your reputation and get your content in front of potential customers on a site like Quora or Reddit. From there, your content needs to be valuable enough to spread through word-of-mouth marketing. If you’re already posting on forums about your product, then you’re probably seeing some results right now. But if you’re not doing forum link building right, or if you want to build links in places where they may not be indexed by Google yet, be prepared to wait at least 3 months—the amount of time it takes Google to index a new page—before starting to see results. (I would say 6 months is more realistic.) After that, you should start to see more organic traffic from those forums.
