Keeping your account safe
Firstly, here are some general tips:
- Make sure to use a password that's not easy to guess.
Examples of bad passwords: your real name, the name of a relative/spouse/pet, your birthday or that of a relative or spouse. - Do not share your password with anyone.
- Do not write it down where someone can find it (digitally and physically).
- Do not use the same password for multiple sites (Use KeePass or similar software if necessary).
If you are using a public computer (e.g. library, school, work or internet cafe) or a shared one at home, make sure the "remember me" box is unchecked. If your browser asks to remember the password and you are on a shared or public computer, say "no".
Always sign out when you leave a shared or public computer--this is also good if you're at home on your own PC and have curious children in the house.
